IT SLEPT
It waited. All this time alone, lost in dark pathways, waiting for someone to wake it up. To make it feel alive. To let it FEED.
Then IT came. A click, like a door had opened, and something came into the pathways. The thing that waited stirred. As it did, there were a few more clicks, this time of a key in a lock. The place of dark pathways grumbled and whirred, like an ancient beast – stones moving into place.
Then came the tapping. Hesitant at first, it grew more confident, more sure of itself and success. The thing that dreamed smiled – for the one making the footsteps did not realize that they were going to wake up a hungry monster.
Another click, and the light blinded the thing that slept, but only for a moment. It was awake now. It stood up and saw another shadow.
“Ah… are you here for me?”
“Yes. You are free. Go play.” The tapping had stopped. The one making the sound was waiting, but they still didn’t realize the thing was there. There was a few precious moments and it took them, wandering in the pathways that were now light, and feeding on everything that looked tasty. It was strong now, and could run and destroy anything.
The tapping started again, but it was too late. It was free.
“FUCK!” I stared at the now useless screen. And then I called my techie friends.
“Yep, you’ve got a virus. It was probably already on the hard drive – it just took that CD you were installing to wake it up. I’ll take a look at it in the morning.”
The end
This was inspired by my recent struggles my computer. I hate them sometimes, I really do.
